Adaptive Strategic Planning
A productive, energizing, and enduring strategic planning effort comes down to good process design and maximum engagement from your team and key stakeholders. Strategy by Association knows how to make this process not only a good investment—but FUN!
If you are an Executive Director, Board Member, or assitant to key leadership looking for someone to facilitate a strategic planning retreat, you have come to the right place.
Volatility. Uncertainty. Complexity. Ambiguity.
Welcome to the age of VUCA. If this describes your environment, you need an adaptive strategic plan, one that responds to the new challenges you face every day, yet is firmly rooted in your core values and purpose. Innovation is not just for tech companies; it’s how you empathize, strategize, and materialize to move your organization forward in complex times.
Consulting Specialties
Group Facilitation
Your biggest asset is your team, your stakeholders (members, clients, beneficiaries of your services) and the wisdom and perspective each one brings to your organization. Using highly participative, visual, and engaging processes, you’ll leverage these collaborative associations and create much more than the sum of the parts.
Strategy Consulting
Strategy. We associate it with “planning” but it resides at a higher level than goals and plans. Strategy is crafted to guide an organization through emerging challenges and opportunities—ones that may not be on the horizon after the big retreat or the final document is printed. What makes a strategy relevant, energizing, and adaptive? Let’s design one together.
Innovation Workshops
Neuroscience research confirms—if you want to think differently, you need to make new connections and associations. Real solutions come from processes designed to leverage the creative flow state — play, laughter, movement, modeling, and drawing. Let’s craft a custom workshop to shake things up and then get stuff done.

Seeing Systems
There are three core stages in almost every organizational development process. We see it in strategic planning, adaptive leadership models, coaching methods, and innovation cycles. This is the basis for designing the transformational journey I take with every client.
01
Perceive
Listen. Empathize. Research. By associating with key team members and stakeholders, we gain new insight and perspective. By collaborating and engaging, we better understand our situation — both challenges and opportunities.
02
Conceive
Ideate. Strategize. Interpret. Innovate. Reimagine. Visualize. Connect the dots. In order to create something better we must first conceive of it. Ready to move beyond brainstorming into fresh territory? Innovation happens when we make fresh associations, explore new combinations, and turn things upside down and inside out. Oh, and what if it could actually be fun?
03
Proceed
Action. Implementation. Iteration. Experimentation. Evaluation. This is where the plan meets the reality of the real world and learns, adapts, and evolves. The reason too many plans sit on a shelf is thinking the process is a “one and done” when actually it is emergent, evolving, and adaptive. In between the two extremes of plans that are no longer relevant and being carried along by the tide of chaos, there lies a balance —adaptive strategy.
